What is Bellafill?
Bellafill is a dermal filler is used to replace lost volume and recreate the smooth, full appearance of skin when the body’s slowing collagen production leads to deep smile lines and wrinkles around the mouth or to improve the appearance of skin that has been scarred by acne.
Traditional dermal fillers replace lost volume and smooth the appearance of skin that is marred with fine lines, wrinkles and scars. But, over time, the filler can be absorbed and the skin’s flaws are noticeable again. Bellafill is the an approved filler that actually stimulates collagen production, extending the results of treatment up to five years. In addition to lines and wrinkles, Bellafill can help improve the appearance of acne scars.
How is Bellafill Treatment Performed?
Like other dermal filler treatments, Bellafill is injected under the skin using a small needle. Then, the filler material is molded and shaped to plump up and smooth out pits and lines in the skin’s surface. Bellafill is composed of 20% bovine collagen, and after injection, the body’s natural collagen slowly replaces the bovine collagen, delivering long-lasting, natural results.
As with most injectable treatments, there can be discomfort associated with the procedure.1If you have concerns, discuss them with your provider, because there are effective ways to manage this during treatment. There isn’t any downtime associated with the procedure, so you can immediately resume your normal activities.
Am I a Candidate for Bellafill?

What Results Can You Expect?

Other cosmetic Bellafill therapies typically last five or more years, depending on the body’s ability to produce adequate collagen to maintain the initial fullness. You’ll probably notice an immediate improvement in your skin’s texture, from the collagen in Bellafill. Your final results should be visible three to six months after your treatment.
Does Bellafill Have Any Side Effects?
Immediately after treatment, you may experience some bruising, redness, swelling or tenderness. These side effects should clear up within a few days of treatment. Less common side effects may include itching, lumps or infection. Let your provider know right away if you notice any lingering side effects or you are experiencing discomfort, swelling or signs of infection.
Less common side effects include rash and itching more than 48 hours after treatment, persistent swelling or redness, lumps/bumps, acne and increased sensitivity at treatment sites. Infrequently, granulomas may occur and may be treated by your licensed physician provider. Be sure to call your provider immediately if you notice any unusual skin reactions around the treatment area.
