XTRAC® Laser

XTRAC is an excellent laser therapy option for treating psoriatic lesions and stimulating pigment to help with vitiligo.

What Is XTRAC?

The XTRAC excimer laser is an excellent new treatment for psoriasis and vitiligo. It is clinically and laboratory proven to be a highly effective wavelength treatment for psoriasis and vitiligo.

It provides quick, effective relief from dry, itchy and unsightly psoriatic lesions, and stimulates the pigment in the skin for patients with vitiligo. Patients who have mild to moderate stubborn plaques of psoriasis, or patients who suffer from vitiligo, are good candidates for this laser therapy. The XTRAC laser tends to be most successful in treating vitiligo on the face and neck, as shown in clinical trials.

XTRAC Advantages

The lesions of psoriasis are specifically targeted by the laser beam, while surrounding healthy tissue remains unexposed. Areas such as elbows, knees and the scalp, that are typically difficult to treat, are not an issue with the XTRAC laser. There are no drawbacks to this laser therapy, such as skin thinning, premature aging of healthy skin, or resistance to medication, which is often associated with other psoriasis treatments. There is very little to no pain or discomfort associated with the laser treatment, other than a slight warm sensation, similar to a sunburn.

For vitiligo, the XTRAC Laser carefully delivers the light energy to the areas of skin that do not have pigment, while leaving the normal areas of skin unaffected. There is no premature aging or thinning of the skin. Treatment usually takes 5-20 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Typically, psoriasis patients see noticeable results in as few as 10-15 treatments. For vitiligo, results will vary from patient to patient. However, improvement is typically observed within 10-20 treatments, and even more pigmentation can be obtained in 30 treatments or less.

What Type of Results Can I Expect?

Usually 75-100% clearance of psoriatic lesions is achieved, following a series of XTRAC laser treatments. Maintenance treatments are recommended. Gradual darkening of vitiligo spots over time result in an overall blending of skin tone.

Is There Any Downtime Associated with the Procedure?

There is no downtime associated with this treatment. Patients may resume their normal activities immediately after their XTRAC laser session.
